We are a full-service veterinary hospital that offers specialty and generalized pet care. We offer a wide variety of diagnostic services, x-ray examinations, surgical procedures, vaccinations and routine check ups. As a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital, we also offer auxiliary services such as overnight boarding services.We pride ourselves on working closely with you and your pet to offer the best professional medical care available. We are a high-quality, low cost vet clinic where you and your pet both love to visit. Our Team
Our experienced and qualified team provides services that aid in making pets thrive. Through continuing education we stay up to date with the most recent developments within the veterinarian field, and are devoted to exercising compassion in all of our interactions. Not only do we provide quality care to your pets, we also support you as the caretaker.
Dr. MakkapatiDr. Makkapati accredited and licensed from OVC in 2005. Since then Dr.Makkapati worked in multiple clinics in Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas in Canada and also worked in Ohio USA before she acquired the Waterloo West Animal Hospital.Dr.Makkapati is dedicated to her career by keeping herself up-to date in new technologies in veterinary medicine by attending symposiums and continuing education seminars. Her interests are in Internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and dentistry. She insists that every patient should have a thorough work up before diagnosing with a medical condition, also she firmly believes in preventive care,year round parasite prevention etc. In her spare time she loves to read and browse internet for veterinary journals and spend time with her little daughters and a little chihuahua , she also enjoys cooking and shopping.
Dr. MahboobDr. Tahir Mahboob graduated from Veterinary College in 1994 with distinction and continued his education to obtain his Masters Degree in Veterinary Microbiology in 1996.While doing his post graduation he had three research articles published in International Journals of veterinary Medicine.He served as a Veterinary Officer with the Government of Pakistan and later managed his own practice for few years. Dr. Mahboob relocated to Canada and accredited and licensed from OVC, Guelph in 2005. Dr.Mahboob worked in multiple clinics in Greater Toronto Area in Canada and also worked in Florida USA. Soonafter, in 2010 he along with Dr.Makkapati purchased the Waterloo West Animal Hospital.Dr.Mahboob enjoys working with animals. He is dedicated to modern veterinary medicine by keeping up to date with continued education. His special interests are in orthopedic procedures,Exotic medicine and Internal medicine.He holds certification in cruciate repair and patellar luxation.
Our Services

Laser Surgery
We offer specialized laser surgery for your pet to diminish pain, recuperation time, bleeding and the overall well being of your pet.

General Medicine
We provide internal medicine services through diagnostic procedures such as digital radiography, biochemistry, urinalysis, cytology, hematology, digital ultrasound, endoscopy, doppler, electrocardiology and microbiology.

General Surgeries
We specialize in a wide range of surgical procedures (abdominal, ophthalmological,obstetrical and orthopedic) as well as routine elective surgeries and dental work.

Grooming
Our groomer is available 5 days a week for your pets beautifications. Her availabilities are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by appointment only.

Hospital Facilities
We offer 24 hour monitoring care for our hospitalized patients as well as a full service boarding facility (with 3 to 4 walks daily).

Therapeutic Speciality
Waterloo West Animal Hospital is delighted to offer alternative to medications in the treatment of pain and arthritis cases as well as improved healing from burns, infections and post operatively thanks to the assistance of the therapeutic laser. The applications of this type of specialized laser range from accelerated fracture healing, muscle strains, sprains and post operative healing, diminishing swelling, improving circulation and nerve repair to areas damaged by constriction to the treatment of severe stomatitis with numerous other therapeutic healing benefits used daily by out staff.

Additional Specialities
Our veterinarians have received additional certification in digital radiography, exotic medicine, feline medicine, radiology, orthopedic surgery and are members of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Ontario Veterinary Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Veterinary International Network, the American Laser Society and the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. We also have over 10 years experience in chemotherapy for cancer patients.

After Hours Pager Service
This is an emergency service offered to our clients only. They can thus be treated on premise and receive appropriate after hours care when they are ill.
